In the same area you will see the Public Market, the Archaeological Museum and the Mosque of Nefterdar, evidence of the Turkish occupation from 1523 to 1912.
Platanos Square
In its center you will find the famous plane tree where Hippocrates of Kos, the father of medicine used to teach to his students. The Platanos square is also the entrance to the impressive medieval castle built by the Knights of Saint John as a defensive fortress during their occupation of the Dodecanese islands from 1315 to 1523 as well as the very fine Mosque of Lotzias.Explore its picturesque streets, visit historical sites like the Castle of the Knights, and take a stroll along the harbor promenade.
Village of Zia
